PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Refurbishment of the Community Shop & Café to enhance the layout and overall look/feel of the café and its supporting spaces, through optimised space utilisation increasing café seating from 17 to 26.

Whilst delivering a £1m new build community barn facility for Corbenic Camphill Community, EC were invited to provide a design and refurbishment service for the Shop & Cafe situated on Dunkeld High Street. In conjunction with our interior design partner &More Design, we delivered a two-week project to transform the existing facilities, with a focus on drawing more attention to the café offering, increasing seating capacity and new kitchen, toilet and dining areas.
The café was transformed through bespoke manufactured joinery bench seating and feature lighting. The kitchen facilities were upgraded with new worktops and sink, new cabinet doors and drawers, splashbacks and feature timber shelving with LED lighting
The customer facilities were further enhanced by complete refurbishment of the toilet facilities, new sanitaryware, wall panelling, full width mirror and feature wall covering.
The overall appearance of the shop & café was enhanced by full decoration throughout all areas.

KEY CHALLENGES

Careful planning and co-ordination of the works, with offsite manufacturing of the banquet seating and feature wall panelling to minimise on-site works and achieve the refurbishment in the shortest possible timescale, thereby reducing the shop closure period and minimising inconvenience to customers and shop trading.
Scheduling deliveries out of normal working hours to overcome the challenges of working on a very busy and narrow main street through Dunkeld, with parking/loading restrictions.

Introducing our interior design partner to the project provided the client with a one-stop service giving the inspiration and expertise the client needed to transform their space, providing the required functionality, compliance with relevant regulations and achieving the much desired wow factor.
