PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located in the campus of Heriot Watt University, the Oriam building is one of the many buildings within the campus.
Works involved retro fitting into the disabled toilet, a changing bed that is powered to assist with disabled persons and also a powered hand basin sink. A lifting hoist was installed to assist getting into the shower from a wheelchair. Refurbishment of the existing Disabled toilet / changing place to accommodate new equipment.
KEY CHALLENGES
Working within a working building that still had staff and students using the building.
Deliveries had to be worked round the students arriving and break times. Noisy.
Works were carried out during times when there were not any seminars or tennis practice happening in the adjacent rooms.
ADDED VALUE
The University have gained a newly refurbished state of the art disabled toilet changing room.
