Commercial Manager

Mike is a highly experienced Commercial Manager who has worked across a wide range of sectors and projects within the construction industry in both Main Contracting and Subcontractor organisations, covering commercial fit-out & refurbishment, maintenance, new build housing and civil engineering for clients within healthcare, education, retail and leisure for both public and private sectors.

With over 35 years in the construction industry, Mike commenced his career as a trainee Quantity Surveyor whilst successfully completing his studies gaining a BSC in Quantity Surveying with W&JR Watson, gaining valuable experience in main contracting, subcontracting, small works and maintenance services. Following this initial period Mike subsequently worked with Main Contracting organisations, progressing through the roles and stages of surveying management to the position of Commercial Manager,

Throughout this journey Mike has acquired considerable experience in the commercial management of a variety of projects using all the established forms of contract adopted within the construction industry, covering contracts ranging in value from £500 – £4.5M. In addition to his expertise in Quantity Surveying, Mike has valuable experience in the tendering and estimating process in competitive tenders and framework agreements.

Mike is responsible for the Commercial Management of EC Specialist Contractors working closely with the Director’s to define sales and margin targets whilst ensuring compliance with the commercial processes and procedures.  Mike also ensures that contracts are commercially managed and administered at the highest level, maintaining clear communication with both Clients and wider Project Teams, always working proactively to find the best solution whilst keeping Clients and the Professional Team regularly updated on any matters that may impact on their budget.
