PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Refurbishment of the existing shower room, including the removal of the existing shower tray and associated fixtures. A new drainage line was installed at floor level to improve access. Upon completion of these works, new vinyl flooring was installed.
The works involved the removal of the existing toilet and shower tray. The existing vinyl flooring was also removed to allow access to the drainage line. Once the position of the new drainage run was agreed with the client, works proceeded to break out the existing concrete floor to facilitate the installation of new sub-floor drainage for the proposed shower.
The floor construction was then prepared to accommodate the revised drainage layout, including making good all disturbed areas and ensuring a level, suitable subfloor. Once preparation works were complete, new vinyl flooring was supplied and installed within the new shower room.
KEY CHALLENGES
A key challenge associated with these works was undertaking the refurbishment within a live environment occupied by disabled residents. This required careful planning and coordination to ensure minimal disruption to daily activities, while maintaining safe access routes and appropriate segregation of the work area at all times.
ADDED VALUE
We worked closely with the Design Team and the client to keep the project on programme, while also staying in regular contact with end users to minimise disruption and keep things running smoothly.
